Her efforts to find the child were thwarted when she was accused of killing her uncle, the man who raped her. When she finally thought she had found the child her efforts were again thwarted by the uncle's friend, Paul. He believed that both Caitlyn and the child were impediments to his freedom and financial future. He felt It was essential that both be disposed of. In her life Caitlyn had only one true friend and that was Jarvis the family butler. He would have an integral effect on, not only her freedom, but her life.
